Yes, at last, I can reveal mystery book project number 1.
Sewn Up: A modern manual of sewing techniques
It will be published in Autumn 2008 by Kyle Cathie, and will be a big, glossy hardback full of fabulous pictures, practical and decorative techniques, masterclasses and projects.
My aim is for the book to tell you pretty much everything you need to know to sew! It is suitable for beginners, intermediates and hopefully advanced as well, as I am including a good number of original decorative techniques and some more unusual practical techniques. When I was working out the contents for this book, the idea in my head was for this to be the book I wanted when I was learning to sew. The aim is for it to be fun and inspirational to browse, like a fabulous cook book. I’ve designed 20 original projects including cushions, bags, clothes and gifts, which I’ll be busy making up over Christmas (holiday, what holiday?). Photography starts in January.
Now its official, I’ll keep you posted with (fairly..) regular updates on progress, assuming I can find the time! I might set up a new blog just for this, but maybe that will be too much!
Wow, that sounds really good. I’m looking forward to reading more about the book as it progresses.
Fabulous, fabulous news. Great publisher too. Can’t wait to see it! xx
