Alas the on-beach knitting was done a few weeks ago and today’s knitting has been pretty sea-free on the sofa, but I have completed a very-delayed birthday present of these fingerless mittens. Now I’ve just got one last-year Christmas present to complete and things will be looking good!
Another good haul at the car boot sale (photos to come) – vintage hankies, pillowcases, napkins and a very fine 1930s aluminum ice bucket. To go with my chrome soda siphon and bakelite roulette wheel. Life’s essentials, you know.
More creatively I also bought small but extremely ugly ottoman / footstool for an exciting refurbishment project. I’m getting more and more into the idea of upholstery, or at least recovering existing upholstery. I’ve had my eyes open for another chair to play with (I have a couple) but haven’t found one yet. A footstool will be a whole lot easier to store at least. I missed out on an upholstery course this year, having forgotten to book in time. It looks like I’ll have to wait another year for it to come round again. In the meantime I’m keeping an eye out for tools as well so I can continue to play around by myself.
