Reflecting on Reflective Writing

New versions of my Reflective Writing for Creative Practice are available now

I’ve created two version of the course now – the original (Course 1) is a broad exploration of creative practice. This version is great for any creative person or project producer, writers, teachers…. Course 2 focusses very much on making and artist practice, looking at how you work, your creative space and your materials, so is ideal for artists and makers.

Both courses are 12 weeks long, with prompts released every week from whenever you start. You can book now and get started straight away, or leave it until January if that works better for you. You get six months to complete it all.

I’m hosting monthly online co-writing groups for course participants too, on the last Tuesday of each month at 3pm, January – June.

At the end of the course, I ask participants for their reflections on the process. Here’s what some had to say:

I enjoyed the course very much. I have a couple of prompts left to think through. I found the reflective writing very helpful in thinking through elements of my practice and where I want to take it

The course has helped me to develop a writing habit that makes sense to me and keeps me curious. The prompts go deep, and a gentle approach is encouraged.

I really enjoyed doing the writing because it was ‘me time’, time to think about my life, what I’m doing, what I want from life in my mid fifties. I think it’s been a very positive experience and I intend to continue writing. It’s definitely helpful for my mental health. I feel that writing could become a very important part of my practice. Thank You Ruth.

The course gave me ways into thoughts and ideas that I might not have noticed without the course. I appreciated the conversations in the groups and loved your essays. The course is benefitting my practice. I am not trying to work things out before I get on and do it. I just do it. I’m less fearful of the blank page or what to do next. I can just do it. Ruth, Thank you for putting this course together.
