Maker Membership Supported Spaces

I have six six-month Maker Membership places (worth £150) available for women in the UK who have financial or health challenges in accessing professional development / building their creative practice or are in a group / demographic which is under-represented in the creative sector (global majority or ethnic minority). If you think this might be suitable for you please read more below.

Maker Membership is

  • Online community
  • Development resources
  • Themes and ideas to inspire
  • Workbooks & reflection
  • Feedback and support
  • Group mentoring

Maker Membership is suitable for artists and creatives who want to develop their work. Your level or length of working practice doesn’t matter as long as you take your creative work seriously and are willing to commit to developing and learning.

In 2023 I invited 6 people to take part in Maker Membership Supported Spaces and now I have six more spaces for people who have financial challenges in accessing professional development and artist networks for one or more of these reasons or are in a group / demographic which is less represented in the creative sector.

Applicant requirements:

  • Have a creative practice
  • Living in the UK
  • Low income household / financial barriers to accessing professional development opportunities

And / or one of the following:

  • Disability, energy limiting health condition / neurodiversity / mental health condition or is a full-time carer for someone else with one of these
  • Global majority or ethnic minority
  • Woman over 50 returning to or establishing a creative practice

What you’ll be expected to commit to:

  • Be active and engaged with the Membership through posting and responding
  • Attend group chats when possible (times & days vary)
  • Commit an hour or two a week for working through online resources, engaging with the membership content and reflecting on your own practice.

There is plenty of flexibility to use the membership in a way which works alongside your other commitments and energy levels. However, if you are not using the membership resources after three months, we reserve the right to cancel your space and offer the remaining time to someone else.

If you need support in applying for this opportunity, please contact me. Alternative forms of application are welcome including recorded application or via video / phone call.

Additional access support / adaptations can be provided for people with disabilities to enable full access to the resources / programmes (eg audio formats / captions / subtitles / BSL for certain online events).

Applications close 5pm on Sunday 21st April and applicants will be informed of the outcome by 26th April with membership access starting from 1st May.
