Making Meaning Journal

I’m excited to announce that Making Meaning Journal is out now!

For years I’ve wanted to create a publication, a modest magazine-style place to share some of my writing and more of my images of my work/ I love writing for my website, for my Maker Membership and for the Textile Study Space but I have long wanted somewhere more permanent to share the wider thinking about my work. Making Meaning Journal has grown from two roots, firstly Making Meaning Podcast of course, where I have conversations with other creatives about the meaning behind what they make. The second root is the mini digital magazine I created in 2020 for Patreon subscribers. I loved putting this together every month but post-lockdown it just wasn’t sustainable for me to do something new every month. Making Meaning Journal will be quarterly, or thereabouts. I had intended to print it but at the last moment decided to keep it as digital to reduce carbon footprint, costs and my time posting them out.

Making Meaning Journal is my new place to share more about my work and projects. It’s 40 pages of images and writing about the meanings behind what I make. This first issue introduces my Cultures of Care project and has features on outdoor working, about my exhibition Material Evidence and an essay about research-led creative practice. I am so excited to create a new way of sharing my work, because sharing is what it’s all about – and I would love to hear your thoughts and reflections on this new project.

The digital issue is available as an instant download for £9
