Colour

I’ve been asked to exhibit in a couple of exhibitions around the theme of colour this Spring. At first I was a little puzzled as most of my current work is fairly lacking in colour; whites, sepia, washed-out and faded colours. Somehow I had forgotten that I usually work in bright and vibrant colours. I really don’t know how I could have forgotten!

The majority of my recent colourful work is out on exhibition at New Brewery Arts, including the Circles Coat and three of my paper pieces made from proof copies of my book Sew It Up, including a new piece not exhibited before.

I’ve also been asked to exhibit at a local independent gallery, The Making House in Burton on Trent in their CMYK exhibition. The exhibition opens with a preview on Friday 26th April 6.30 – 8.30pm and continues to 8th June.

I have made a new piece especially for this show, using a cut-quilting technique that I haven’t previously used in a large piece. I’m pleased with how it has turned out and am planning more of these, including, hopefully, a larger one for the Festival of Quilts this summer.

This technique is in my new book, Fabric Manipulation which comes out this summer.
