I’ve just started work on a new project to create a site-specific installation for my own studio building, as part of a new exhibition called Regeneration. Ten members of Ornamentum are working on a show inspired by the regeneration of local area, the history of hosiery factories and new beginnings.

My work explores new growth in an abstract way and is in response to the building itself, formed of masses of tiny textile pieces fitted into the nooks and crannies of the building such as holes in the brickwork and gaps down the side of windows. Some of my first samples are shown, some of which are pretty invisible at a distance. I wonder how long it will take for the other studio tenants to notice these bits!
The exhibition opens with a preview on Tuesday 19th November (5-8pm) and continues until January 2014.
Bonkers and brilliant 😀
Ah! Were these those scraps of linen, by any chance? How splendid!
Yes, that’s the stuff – although I initially needed it for a different project, I have realised that natural linen is a perfect match for the various bits of limestone in the building. I need to find more now!
