I’m excited to announce that Making Meaning Journal is coming soon!

For years I’ve wanted to create a publication, a modest magazine-style place to share some of my writing and more of my images of my work/ I love writing for my website, for my Maker Membership and for the Textile Study Space but I have long wanted somewhere more permanent to share the wider thinking about my work. Making Meaning Journal has grown from two roots, firstly Making Meaning Podcast of course, where I have conversations with other creatives about the meaning behind what they make. The second root is the mini digital magazine I created in 2020 for Patreon subscribers. I loved putting this together every month but post-lockdown it just wasn’t sustainable for me to do something new every month. Making Meaning Journal will be quarterly, or thereabouts. It will be printed in short print runs using vegetable inks on recycled paper to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible and it is only small, with 40 pages in this first issue (it might grow, I am not sure yet).

To launch the Journal, I’m producing a digital version as a free gift for podcast supporters* just until the end of August when it will go to print.

*To get a free digital copy of Making Meaning Journal Issue one you will need to support the podcast with a donation of £25 or more, or take out an annual subscription (£5 per month or £50 per year) before midnight BST 31st August 2023. All the options are included here.

You can continue to support the podcast after 31st August of course, and Making Meaning Journal Printed copy will be available to buy in late September.

Below are some screenshots of the design which I am working on right now. It’s going to be gorgeous!

And another sneak preview too if you have made it to the end of this post: the podcast will be back in mid September and I’ve got fortnightly conversations lined up until way into next year!
