Part of my Maker Membership online community is a creative theme for members to follow if they wish, usually related to my current creative work.
The theme for late 2023 was damage, and I invited members to create new work and share it in this online exhibition.
This is the brief I set:
Research and investigate damage in relation to your existing practice, way of working and interests. From this body of research / idea development, create a piece or group of new work in your own style. Find your own direction with this theme that makes sense to you and the way you prefer to work. Some other words and ideas to get you started: Fragments. Waste. Breakage. Loss. Incomplete. Easily damaged. Resilient.
The response to this theme has been varied and imaginative, far beyond what I expected or intended when I set the theme. We had fortnightly discussion groups throughout the development period which participants have found inspiring and beneficial in developing their ideas. Group work and sharing is such a powerful part of Maker Membership which I love supporting.
The exhibition is online until 27th April
