My own textile work alongside Mary Linwood’s

In August, before the Mary Linwood exhibition opened, I took all the work I had made for the exhibition for a photo shoot in St Margaret’s Church, Leicester. This is the church where Mary Linwood is buried and it seemed like the perfect atmospheric location for me to have photographs of me and my work taken before the pieces went into cases and frames.

Normally I have photos taken in a studio, with a white background. In the last couple of years I have been experimenting with different ways to show my work in photos, but this was the first on-location shoot. It was a joy!

I’m so pleased with how these photos give a totally new narrative to the work and encourage the viewer to think about the stories they tell.

I’m sharing the stories of these works in the Meet The Artist Gallery Tour in the exhibition on Saturday 9th December at 10am.
