Last weekend I went to see Sara Cook’s Cherry Blossom Project in the Garden Museum, London and it was amazing!

I don’t often get to take part in other artists’ projects so it was a real treat for me to be on the other side for a change. At the launch Sara talked about the importance of shared identity and diversity in this project which was a really powerful ‘hidden’ meaning behind this work. She also invited participants to add a hope or intention into their piece (I forgot) which is a really special addition too.

I’ve co-created art project many times over the last decade or more, it’s something I feel really passionate about. Co-creation can be enormously varied, from inviting contributions to working with a group to make a piece to shared words or stories contributing to a piece I make.
In the last couple of years I’ve worked with others to create Stitching Emotions and Connected Threads for Mary Linwood Rediscovered project. I have a couple of new co-creation projects coming up soon for Hand & Heart as well. If you would like to take part in those, please join my mailing list here.
