Some of the events are drop-in, while others require booking. Some are free, some have ticket costs attached.

Textile Amulets with Ruth Singer
Saturday 25th Oct, 1:00 – 4:00pm
Workshop with Ruth Singer making textile amulets or tiny hand stitched invented mementoes inspired by the life and story of Mary Linwood. This workshop will be full of reflection, slow stitch and gathering of narrative to make a small piece to wear or share. Adult Workshop

Sketchbook workshop with Mandeep Dhadialla
Sat 8th Nov, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Create a sketchbook inspired by Mary Linwood’s use of a scrapbook and her embroidery works, as well as from Ruth Singer’s exhibition pieces. We’ll make a hand-bound pamphlet stitch sketchbook and creatively combine collage, colour, texture, pattern and mark-making filling the pages with mixed media including staining papers with natural handmade pigments, drawing with found objects, stitch and layering. All materials are provided. This workshop is suitable for any level.

Tactile Textile Tour

Join the Mary Linwood exhibition artist and curator Ruth Singer for this hands-on gallery tour. Explore examples of Ruth’s work, historic embroidery and the materials used by Mary Linwood. Open to all but particularly suitable for blind or visually impaired adults.

Stitch Weekend
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November, 11:00am – 3:00pm
A weekend celebrating Mary Linwood and embroidery with workshops, demonstrations and talks. There will be lots to see and do at this exciting festival of thread and stitch.

Hand Embroidery Masterclass with Ruth Singer
Sat 17th Jan, 1:00 – 4:00pm
Workshop with Ruth Singer exploring how to express yourself through hand embroidery. The workshop includes some familiar stitches used in new ways, some new stitches to learn, a huge range of threads to try and time to experiment with using embroidery in a freestyle, break-the-rules way.
